October 1st, 2017 was a very special and significant day for St. John Vianney Catholic Church. After enjoying a delicious potluck lunch and parish meeting/rally day, we traveled in a caravan up the street to our new property, and blessed our new land for all time (Traversing the15 acres necessitated using a parishioner's pick up rather than the traditional procession!) -- LAND UPDATE
Several folks have been out to work and mow, some to simply enjoy a beautiful sunset, and some to take pride in our wonderful accomplishment of purchasing the land.
So what do we call it?
In Gone With the Wind the land was called "Tara". In the movie "Giant"' the land was called "Reata", After some discussion we have decided to call it "2825" The actual mailing address will be 2825 West FM 4 (Kilpatrick Street)
It is simple and easy to remember. This is a conversational title only. Not legal, not official, just an acronym for our church family to identify our accomplishment when we want to meet, work or visit.
Now that we have signed the papers and have made the first payment, Reality has hit.
A good analogy might be this: Remember when you were newly married living in an apartment on somewhat limited funds? Suddenly you found your family is growing, you are going to need more room for God's blessing of a baby.
Well, you find a house that is perfect for the three of you, but how in the world are you going to pay for it?
You take a leap of faith trusting in God that you made the right move.
You also realize that now you have to designate more of your income toward the new home because you might have another blessing along the way. Looking back, those were good times, WE MADE IT.
Our church family is growing. We must realize that each of us must designate more of our income toward our new home, because I am sure there will be more blessings for us along the way.
Faithfully,
Dale Williams, Parish Council President
